Winter's First Snow

Located in the spectacular Coast Mountains of British Columbia just two hours north of Vancouver, Whistler is Canada’s favourite year-round destination.

I managed to get up early prior to sunrise after a night of heavy snow and managed to capture this amazing image.

My personal favourite is having an Aluminium HD metal Framed print at scale on your walls. They completely change the mood and feeling in any room. There's something special, magical and captivating about them.

High-definition aluminium prints are made on aluminium that’s coated with a special coating that the image is fuzed into. Using ChromaLuxe brand metal, which is resistant to stains, scratches, water, fire, tears, age-related yellowing – and lasts 200-400% as long as the world’s best photo papers. This means you don’t have to protect an Aluminium HD Metal Print under a glass or layer of laminate as you would with regular photo paper. When you print on metal, you get all the high-definition quality you expect from an HD printer – but with all the benefits of aluminium’s lightness and durability.

Since the photographs are printed on a special film layer, as opposed to directly onto the aluminium surface, the quality you see in each finished print is breathtaking.

The best thing about metal prints is that the images are directly fuzed into the coating of the metal which makes them resilient. This combines a medium which is unique, durable and incredibly classy on a visual level with the incredible accuracy of modern HD printing techniques. As a result, any image I choose to print on metal will look stunning – whether it’s a photograph, graphic illustration or painting reprint.

The print keeps all of its properties. This means I do not have to worry about my image losing vibrancy, contrast or colouring. And with the durable aluminium backing helping prevent surface scratches, dings and dents – as well as rips – my photo will continue to look great for a long time to come.

One question I get asked a lot concerns the durability of metal prints: “how long can I expect my photograph or picture to last?”

Well, let me put your mind at ease: you can expect an aluminium print to last you a long time! Not only has the ChromaLuxe metal used been shown to last 2-4x as long in fade tests – it’s also impervious to all but the most spirited attempts to burn, scratch or dent it.

At the end of the day, there’s one major reason I print on metal: what I call the WOW effect. Every piece of visual is a statement – and when I choose to print on a new and unusual medium like metal, I am underscoring that statement with a bold, progressive choice of material. There’s an immediate, striking effect to a metal print – and the unusual rigidity of the metal adds a completely new dimension to my photography.

Distant Waterfall, Fiordland National Park, New Zealand

This is the most spectacular waterfall in the National Park, you can see the lake the snow melts into and creates the cascading waterfall.

This remarkable natural environment features stunning fiords, spectacular waterfalls and snow-capped peaks.

Ancient rainforest clings impossibly to the mountains; waterfalls tumble hundreds of meters into massive fiords; shimmering lakes and granite peaks look the same today as they did a thousand years ago.

It is one of only few places in the world that is still untouched by man and can only be accessed via helicopter.

Landscape and being in nature is deeply spiritual for me and I hope that I can take the viewer to that moment in time when I took the photograph.

Deep Cove refers to the community in the easternmost part of the District of North Vancouver, in British Columbia, Canada, and is also the geographic name of the small bay beside the town. It is affectionately referred to as "The Cove" by local residents. Located at the foot of Mount Seymour, Deep Cove faces due east, fronting onto Indian Arm, a branch of the Burrard Inlet. The area is the traditional territory of the Tsleil-Waututh and Squamish Nations.

Antelope Canyon

The American Southwest is the “canyon capital of the world,” from the vast, massive Grand Canyon, to canyons so narrow, even the slenderest of people would be challenged to squeeze through some of them. It is in this latter category where you’ll find Page, AZ’s world-famous Antelope Canyon.

Antelope Canyon is an example of a geological curiosity known as a “slot canyon.” As the name suggests, slot canyons are tiny canyons formed when water finds its way into a crack or fissure in the bedrock. Occurring largely in deserts or areas with low rainfall, a slot canyon is the result of thousands of years of weather extremes. In the case of Antelope Canyon, an intermittent creek that now empties into the Colorado River would erupt in turbulent flash floods that wore away the sandstone rock face, followed by hot, dry periods where sandstorms buffed the canyon walls to a striated, swirled finish. Over time, these weather patterns lessened in severity, but this natural process of erosion continues to be a part of Antelope Canyon’s ongoing evolution.

Accounts of how Antelope Canyon was first discovered vary. One of the more widely circulated versions asserts that around the time of the Great Depression, a Navajo girl was herding livestock on her family’s ancestral lands near what is now Page, Arizona. Along the way, she wandered into a “crack” in a sandstone wall where the outside world fell silent, and divine rays of light illuminated the sculpted chambers of the cave-like formation through a gap in the roof. Some elders of the Navajo tribe maintain that “Long Walk” holdouts took refuge in Antelope Canyon in the late 1800’s, and that spiritual beings continue to keep watch over the area.

Every piece of visual is a statement – and when I choose to print on a new and unusual medium like metal, I am underscoring that statement with a bold, progressive choice of material. There’s an immediate, striking effect to a metal print – and the unusual rigidity of the metal adds a completely new dimension to my photography.

Snow and Blue Sky, Fiordland National Park, New Zealand

After a heavy night of overnight snow and a clear bluebird day we decided to take the helicopter up to the peaks to take some shots. This was a perfect shot as the snow, cloud formation and clear blue sky created a great composition.

Early Morning Winter

Located in the spectacular Coast Mountains of British Columbia just two hours north of Vancouver, Whistler is Canada’s favourite year-round destination.

I managed to get up early prior to sunrise after a night of heavy snow and managed to capture this amazing image.

Incoming Storm, Queenstown, New Zealand

This photograph was taken off the Remarkables which is situated on the South Island of New Zealand in Queenstown. The cloud formation is a storm approaching that will drop snow on the mountain peaks.

This is a limited addition piece of 50 due to the remoteness and toughness to get to the point to shoot such an image and the mood and feel of the image reflects exactly what Mother Nature was intending that day.

Located on the southeastern shore of Lake Wakatipu, the range lives up to its name by rising sharply to create an impressive backdrop for the waters. The range is clearly visible from the nearby town of Queenstown.

The highest point in the range is Single Cone (2319 metres). The adjacent Hector Mountains southeast of the Remarkables culminate in Mount Tūwhakarōria (2307 m).

There are a number of small lakes on the mountains including Lake Alta which forms part of the Remarkables Skifield.

The mountains were named The Remarkables by Alexander Garvie in 1857-58, allegedly because they are one of only two mountain ranges in the world which run directly north to south. An alternate explanation for the name given by locals is that early Queenstown settlers, upon seeing the mountain range during sunset one evening, named them the Remarkables to describe the sight.

Landscape and being in nature is deeply spiritual for me and I hope that I can take the viewer to that moment in time when I took the photograph.
